Water Softener Systems
Water Softening (Softener Filter) System
Ground water dissolves rocks and releases minerals such as calcium and magnesium ions. The presence of calcium and magnesium can cause water to be hard or better known as hardwater. These minerals can reduce water quality, it can be seen from the physical properties that appear cloudy and smelly. Calcium and magnesium are present in the form of CaCO3 and MgCO3, both salts can be removed by heating but require a large amount of energy.
Cleaning agents commonly used to wash clothes are not able to remove dirt and germs when using hard water, even making clothes dull. In addition, these minerals can leave white crust in the bathroom.
Hardness of water or water hardness can be removed by ion exchange methods. Water hardness can be expressed in grain per gallon (gpg) and parts per million (ppm) or milligrams per liter (mg / L). 1 gpg is equal to 17 ppm (mg / L). Table 1 shows the water hardness level.
